A.V.A Live Radio Interview with Eddie Heller from Toxic Box

Toxic_boxJacqueline JaxJAX: How did you get your start in music?
Eddie: To be honest, I’ve been involved with music as long as I can remember. We had a baby grand piano in our home growing up and my parents have pictures of me as an infant sitting on my dad’s lap playing. My dad is an accomplished piano player and the 1st recollection I have of playing is around 4 or 5 years old. I played clarinet in elementary school and in 7th grade drums became my main instrument. By high school and college I was playing guitar and bass as well. I was a terrible candidate for music lessons – I had ADHD and had trouble concentrating. Luckily, playing by ear came easy to me. I’m not a virtuoso on any instrument (nobody is paying money to watch me perform on a specific instrument – lol) ……. my strengths are creativity/songwriting, a metronome sense of timing, and hopefully a well rounded appreciation of everything that goes into a song.

{Secrets of Success} Digging Deep For Interviews

Jacqueline_Jax_avalive_radioI interview artists and entrepreneurs weekly for the station and am amazed at how many people spend so little time on their interviews. I’ll start by sending them about 10 questions to help them create a story about themselves and their work and am often disappointed in the responses. Although entrepreneurs typically have a lot of interview savvy, giving up lots of personal stories and playful accounts about how they interact with their business and the people in it, Artists take the longest to respond and often hold back every aspect of what makes them interesting to the readers. Amazing to me, since entertainers  should be able to entertain. Today’s music artist seems guarded and scared of revealing those wonderful frailties that make their stories so unique, interesting and relatable.

spring-runway-fashion-2014Learn how to choose a Spring wardrobe that will last more than 1 season.Little black dresses addDiscover the secrets to selecting dresses for your body type.

Highlights: Jax Report Spring Style

DIY FAShion Projects1) Designer DYI: everyone loves a great DO it yourself project however be thoughtful with your project planning but there’s a great DIY like recreating that thousand dollar Pucci bag with some pretty beads and a hot glue gun and there’s walking around with a macaroni mess held together. Y paper clips. Not all DYIs are good. Keep them simple and look at some videos online before deciding on a project that’s for you.

Logo fashion trend spring2) Wearing Logos: if your going to become a walking advertisement for your favorite label, try to keep it to one piece of clothing at a time. There was a time when Jacqueline Kennedy never wore logo tees and thought they were to be saved for youthful rebellious teenagers but if you between the ages of 12-25 a logo tee is certainly appropriate to demonstrate your personal views. But other than for workout wear, still to classic looks that aren’t to wordy. Try to focus on fabric texture, colors and fit instead.

SPring fashion luxury trends3) Focus on Luxury: there are some beautiful pieces this season that you won’t regret spending your luxury dollars on this season. A couple of my favorites are the leather bucket bag, a great pair of suede mules, chunky gold bracelet or necklace.
These styles won’t be trends that pass quickly and they are classic enough to pair them in unlimited ways as you move through seasons. Bag: Mansur Gavriel, $495 each; net-a-porter.

Low_heels spring fashion shoe trends4) Speaking of Shoes: the low heeled pump is back and woman are enjoying this as a work shoe. When it comes to shoes, you can typically be true to yourself and your lifestyle. I personally have never had an issue buying any color, heel shape or style and not been able to make it work down the Lin, however I have a rather large inventory to choose from. So with that being said, if your looking to invest in shoes this season, I like the nude styles, a chunky heel on a colorful or cork shoes is a fun comfortable style, the ankle straps are great and a goddess sandal for the next few months is going to be fun to wear.

Board shorts Spring Fashion Trends5) Board Shorts are those print surf shorts that end at the knee. It looks like a Hawaiian walking short to me. I personally wouldn’t invest in them because the trend is like a beach fad. I think that there’s nothing like all white shorts for the beach and a fresh stripe shirt or halter top in a solid color. You can even get fun with a Hawaiian print but I don’t see the board shorts being a fashion statement past the beach.

Spring tribal Fashion Trends6) Tribal Trend: this trend is a little to heavy for me. The elements can be very over powering for smaller frames and just have so much going on. They can look very costume. Instead try to get your tribal fix with a bag or accessories like earrings or necklace. Even a touch on a tee shirt something that won’t be a huge investment because it’s going to look outdated and silly once it’s over. The farthest I would go in a purchase is perhaps a tunic to wear with jeans for around $100. Tunics can get away with carrying trends further into other seasons because they have a casual wear with jeans feel that doesn’t typically force a statement to far.

spring-2014-picks-17) Piling on Jewels: right now the magazines are pilling on ear cuffs, arm bands, multi layers of bracelets, statement necklaces, statement earrings. Oh my gosh.. Hold on ..this is just a mess. More is not more. I would look and feel ridiculous wearing so much amour. A lady is a lady… Be reasonable and stick to one major statement piece at a time. Two max if they aren’t sitting close to each other and they don’t make you look like a Halloween costume version of yourself. I’m all for stunning jewelry but just don’t try to wear it all at once.

XL_1200x800_08-lgn8) Guilded with rose gold Metallics: metallics can be great for evening but again less is more. Don’t go head to toe metallic. Choose one item. Shoes, a bag, a cuff, or a shirt then mix it with matte fabrics in classic shapes to keep it from being over powering. I like black slacks or jeans, a metallic sheer shirt to lighten up the heaviness and add one bracelet of the color. Then shoes and bag should be neutral matching the black slacks. Your look can be so messy and over done otherwise.

XL_1200x800_09-lgn9) High Shine: high shiny fabrics are flying down the runways with a rain slick look in super bright shades. These trends won’t last long so don’t throw the luxury money at them, instead find pieces under $50 so you won’t kick yourself when your bored. We all like shiny things but clothing that shines wears out is appeal quickly and one the trend is gone people will look at you like your odd walking around in a bright yellow patent leather rain coat unless your a rock star. In which case, rock on you need the attention anyway. It could end up being your trademark.

Hawaiian-GR-Tankdress_look_10) Prints: prints are personal. Some people will be attracted to florals, others to geometrics. Colors are always appealing to the wearer and the viewers because they are so uplifting. But choosing the right sundresses can be tricky. I love fit and flare shapes for all my clients because they hide figure flaws and accent the best parts then work to smooth out the bumps.

For a peak at more looks from today’s show go to JaxCouture.com and if you’d like to explore some fresh spring top and dresses that won’t break your piggy bank, Blondibeachwear.com is the place to go for the cutest print dresses in shapes flattering for all figure types.

Secrets of Success:: Changes To Facebook and Social Media That Will Effect Your Traffic

AVA_Facebook_Jacqueline_JaxChanges to facebook that will effect your reach and traffic:

Typically it’s a common practice to post different times per day on facebook so that you can increase the amount of people seeing your postings, but recently I discovered an article that facebook is making changes to the way that a post is being seen. Business pages are going to have to purchase adds in order to be seen by more than 1-6% of their followers in the news feed. Not fair perhaps, however it goes without saying that it is their prerogative to do so. I have always said that it’s best to build up our own mailing list, work directly from your own web site and never rely on only 1 form of social media for traffic. It’s best to remember that you don’t own those social media pages that you signup for and they can change the rules at any time. This article just adds fuel to the fire.  Facebook is making moves and changes in one way to filter to much spam and reposting, but in another to make money. You should be aware of the changes in the game and adjust your strategy accordingly.

A better plan for using Social Media to market your products

Want to hear about a better plan for marketing your goods? Let me walk you through my Sunday morning research as a guide line for a longer lasting marketing strategy. Learn more about the different social media platforms and why they may be a perfect fit for your business marketing plan.

Start with your own web site:

You own your web site and all the content on it so doesn’t it make more sense to focus on improving the content on your own web pages first? Listen to my latest show where I talked with web design specialist and SEO adviser Hector Torres from Idealocity.com about creating better SEO friendly content and how to tag your content so the search engines can recognize it. Listen to the show and read the notes: https://avaliveradio.wordpress.com/2014/04/10/secrets-of-success-advantages-to-a-wordpress-website-seo-tips-getting-views/

Discover which social media platforms are best for your business.

Not all platforms are equal and not all will get your products in front of the right group of people. Some are heavier with female buying traffic, some are just for building better brand awareness and others are great to let people know more about the face behind the brand. It’s best to identify what you want to accomplish and then start using the right social media platform to achieve your goal.

Pinterest:

If you sell fashion or beauty products, Pinterest is terrific to get your message out there because its heavy on female traffic already searching for those things. Very expensive paid advertising is on it’s way and has already been tested but 83 percent of “pinners” are women, compared to 53 percent of Facebook users and 49 percent of Twitter users.  Women are more likely to interact with brands on social media, and they buy more online.  http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/232418

Youtube

is a powerful visual platform that has the potential of reaching a viral amount of new people quickly depending on your message and how interesting your make your video. But it’s no easy task to creating something that will go viral. Instead of focusing on trying to create viral videos, you should dedicate your efforts to catering specifically to your target audience.  http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/230501  For instance, I just started a Home shopping show segment on AVA LIVE RADIO to talk about fashion  and style to my fashion clients on a visual platform that is easily seen. I’m not thinking about how to make the video’s go viral, I’m thinking about providing the best and most fashion informative content I can that will solve style issues. By answering my customers common fashion problems, I have the best chance at not only getting viewed by current clients but appealing to new ones as well. Check out the show if your curious: https://avaliveradio.wordpress.com/category/jax-couture-home-shopping/

Twitter

is an ongoing- in the moment conversation where you can reach out to people and actually get a reply on breaking news or announcements. But you really have to follow the trends and be quick to act on what people are searching for. I found a helpful twitter tips article from Entrepreneur magazine that may help you get in the game . I especially loved what they said about : “Save the sales pitch. Don’t get caught up in using Twitter as a selling tool. Instead, use it to increase customer loyalty and offer valuable information to your followers. Overmarketing will merely leave a sour taste in followers’ mouths, and you may even end up losing them if their feed gets too clogged with too many promotions. Be viewed as a resource, not a door to door .” salesperson. http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/230891

Facebook

is great to let customers get to know the people behind the brand. It’s not a place for spamming and just like I said at the beginning of this article, major changes have already been made to how your posts get filtered. So be sure to read the article I linked up and stay subscribed to us here at A.V.A Live Radio to stay up to date.  Basically, as I have researched, you’ll want to portray your business in a friendly, “sociable” manner, as a place where customers are treated well and “everybody knows your name.” Almost any business can benefit from having a Facebook page. But Facebook isn’t about selling.  http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/230020 Great information to keep in mind..

Linkedin

is a business to business connection platform where people are gathering resources and contacts for their businesses. It’s a great place to establish your credibility in your industry among your piers. “When a member publishes a post on LinkedIn, their original content becomes part of their professional profile, is shared with their trusted network and has the ability to reach the largest group of professionals ever assembled.” http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/231626 .. There are some awesome articles about linked in that I have gathered for you at the bottom of the page if your interested.

Instagram

This image dominant platform is fun to use but from a “marketing perspective, the community’s enthusiastic fan base and built-in social aspects make it an ideal place to connect with potential customers and build brand recognition. ” http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/226014
I enjoyed learning about these 3 tips to getting more likes on imgaes:  Keep it cool: Photos dominated by blues and other cool colors tend to garner more likes while photos with warmer oranges and reds do worse.
Master monochrome: The more dominant a single color is on an image, the more likes it could get. Pictures dominated by a single hue receive 40 percent more likes than those that don’t.
With color, less is more: It can be tempting to ratchet up the vibrancy, flooding your image with color to make it stand out. But in today’s overstimulated world, bright and vibrant colors can get lost. The proof is in the data: Curalate says less saturated images receive 18 percent more likes than their mover vibrant counterparts. http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/229901

Start a Mailing List:

Although you may think it’s old hat, a good old mailing list still works miracles at getting your message and offers directly to your customers. Use Mailchimp or an opt in subscription signup on your blog to collect those emails and stay in touch with those who want to hear from you. Keep your content fresh, updated and in motion. Make sure you are always competitive in price and offering incentives for people to visit often, don’t spam your followers but set up a consistent weekly schedule they can count on with fresh daily content on your web pages. If you want to compare the top 3 mailing list providers, I linked an article for you below.

I certainly hope that my research this morning helped you to get up to speed on the social media platforms and how to use them. There are more great articles linked for you below. I really hope you will subscribe to the web site today so you can join me again as I continue to share what I learn with you every Sunday morning and of coarse with my featured interviews during the week right here on AVA LIVE RADIO. – Jacqueline Jax

{Interview} Secrets of Success: Advantages to a WordPress Website, SEO Tips & Getting Views

Secrets of Success WordPress Website DesignListen in now: www.blogtalkradio.com/avaliveradio/2014/04/10/secrets-of-success-advantages-to-a-wordpress-website-seo-tips-getting-views

Join host Jacqueline Jax as she sits down with WordPress Website Design expert Hector Torres (www.idealocity.com) about the advantages of having a wordpress web site. Topics will also include SEO Tips of the trade for the best results, the most important things to have on your web pages, and how to get more views. If you want or have your own website, product page or blog, you don’t want to miss this show.

best-free-wordpress-themesSome of the topics that will be discussed are:
Why do we recommend using WordPress for a website?
Easy to use for novice users.

What’s the difference between using self hosted wordpress.org and fully hosted wordpress.com? Experiment with wordpress.com with a limited web page that works terrific for bloggers but is limited when trying to sell products or using adwords. For a more advanced web site with additional features defiantly go with a self hosted web building styles: like sample: http://www.idealocity.com/recent-work/

Is WordPress just for blogging or can it be used for selling products and services?  No it can be used by anyone.

What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization success is all about content. Be sure to keep things fresh and think about key things like tagging, tiles and content.

Tips:
1) Always use an H1 tag heading and subheadings somewhere inside your post to allow the search engines to identify your topics. Make sure to use them in order. (Heading 1, 2, 3..)
2) Use hyperlinks to other pages and posts related to your content. Never use (click here) instead type out the page title so the key words will help you to get better traction.
3) Add images to enhance your SEO listings. Make sure to use the ALT tag to describe your image. Be very descriptive including the key words only. You do not need to include unimportant words in the title like: the, and, with..

What are some important things to place on your pages and posts to improve your content and SEO? It’s important to create content that aligns with your topic. Identify your sub-niche and stick to it. Don’t diversify to much without adding menu or categories items to your web site frame. It’s very important to be organized with your content.

What are the differences between on-page SEO and off-page SEO?

The A.V.A Live Radio: How to Brand and Market your name using Search engine keywords, adwords, and facebook

blogtalkradio.com/avaliveradio/2014/01/24/ava-liveradio-how-to-brand-your-name-using-adwords-facebook-search-engines

Join host Jacqueline Jax as she gives you the hard truth about branding your name online using adwords, facebook and search engines. with questions answered from our audience.

Q: Benni Chawes – Website: http://www.chawes.net
I just listen to you on youtube “Choosing a Successful Brand Name”. Thanks a lot for sharing your wisdom!!! I’m REALLY in big doubt about my name….!!!
It’s absolutely special ‘Benni Chawes’ but gets misspelled a lot let alone mispronounced.
I’m a danish singer/piano player. I do jazz/soul/pop idiom (www.chawes.net) and have been using that (birth) name for 8+ years now. I think I’m cutting of potential fans – or at least not getting out there as much as I could with that name. And that’s a shame – I LOOOOVE performing and sharing my music with them. When ever I perform world wide in all modesty people really love what I’m doing 🙂
I also incorporate my vocal instruments into the show. With my voice I sound like the true guitar, drums, bass, and percussion.
I released an album (late 2006), have toured in 20+ countries, sponsored by prestigious Bang & Olufsen as the first musician ever, won awards and have opened up for Ray Charles. Can you guide me? How do I go about this? Help…!!!!! 🙂
Thanks for reading all this 😉
Bless you. Benni

A: First let me say thank you for tuning in and I’m really glad you asked this question. Our name is something we all agonize over especially when things don’t take off as quickly as anticipated. Here are a few things you should consider moving forward.

1) since this is your birth name no one can ever prevent you from using it even if they trademark it and unusual names can be great for search engine listings. If no one else has a name close to yours, then it should be pretty easy for you to command your spot in the searches and control what information represents you especially if you are able to own your domain, facebook, twitter, linkedin, and other social media versions as well.

2) because your name is unusual, you will have to work on branding it to your audience. By branding I mean saying your name allowed often via interviews, video, podcasts, sound bites, etc. Also use your name in your logo and use it on every photo you release even on Instagram to imprint it further. For instance I always say my complete name in everything that I do and I rarely shorten or abbreviate.. “Jacqueline Jax” so people now call me by my my first and last name and as a result of all this branding over a few years, I am totally commanding my own name in the searches.

3) consider buying common misspelling .coms if you think it’s being done often and redirect those .coms to your web site. Also be sure to get all social media platforms in your name as they come out even if you don’t use them now, it helps to prevent competition before hand or fake profiles from being created. I also love the fact that many social media platforms command high search rankings if you update your page often, so make sure your content is streaming to those places as well.

4) Own it! Take pride in the name you’ve chosen and embrace it. If you appreciate it for the original reasons you selected the name, your customers and followers will also. You just have to find ways to connect the name to your product. You can do that with an image, tag lines, and content. Think about it, who would have thought that Pepsi or Shakira would have been memorable, now everyone knows it and recognizes the name and the product/ persons music.

Q: Is GoogleAdwords the best way to go? Or is there something better? Amy- Ohio
A: It will vary depending upon what type of website you have, what your target market is, and what you’re selling. Some businesses have great success with AdWords. For others, Facebook or Bing have shown better financial results. As with any advertising champagne be prepared because there is always a chance that your Pay Per click campaigns won’t be profitable at all? There are just to many factors that can effect your results so a trial and error period is necessary. When I first started promoting my clothing line on the web, I used Pay-per-click and found that my advertising budget got used up quickly with no sales conversions. Sure I got some traffic but what good do that do if I didn’t see any sales. I think it’s a numbers game, if you have a viral product then perhaps pay-per-click is something that can get you to the masses but new companies and music artists should beware of the cost verses the reward here. It’s a numbers game, if you don’t have lots of dollars to spend, use them on something else that will get the word out and leave an impression. The best advice I can offer, is test it for yourself on facebook before starting a campagne. Create several approaches and place them up during the morning, afternoon and evening with an image and see what sticks. Keep track of the likes, follow through rate and comments to see what works best for your products or service. Then once you have something that tests well, use that add or formula to create more. I’m still a fan of building true relationships over time and the loyalty that comes with caring about the customers you have rather than the anonymous numbers your hoping to attract. In other words, it’s about quality customers rather than quantity.

Q: How can I get the right customers to my website ? Tim – Australia
A: Attracting customers online has a lot to do with search engines. I would suggest creating a list of keywords to aim for. Cut down the # of keywords to target your quest. When you go out and try to rank for to many keywords you get lost. I suggest to start out with 5-7 keywords that you can rank for. To do this you want to use a tool like Google Keyword Planner which is free. Jot down a few of your keywords to see what the search results are. If they are to high (meaning lots of people search for it) then the competition to get to page 1 will take a longer time (and more money) where as something that gets smaller search results (but still brings targeted traffic) can be done sooner for less money. You also need to be aware that things like this are not done overnight. You’ve got to understand who your competitors are and what they are already doing. Once you know what they do to be on page 1 you do the same but better and smarter. Also remember like I said before, even if you bring in the traffic it does not guarantee any sales. Your website now has to reach out to them and make it easy and trustworthy for a new customer to buy. Another reason I like pursuing quality relationships rather than quantity of hit. You may want to show more of who is behind the scenes of your products. Meaning put up some pictures of the actual staff, you creating or how you perfect your craft. Make it easy for customers to see the price savings so they feel your prices are great as well. Since everything has already been done in some way before, you really need to be different and also have a MAJOR social media networker. Be innovative in putting yourself out there. Your website has to speak volumes to the traffic that visits and must convey honesty, trust and that you know your industry. It must look professional and accurately convey your brands message upon first glance with a fast page loading time and clarity. Otherwise they will just go to the big brands who they already trust and those hits won’t convert into sales.

Thanks for tuning in. If you have comments or questions, ask them here and I’ll answer them on the next show. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the “like” and “share” button if this was helpful.

SHOW NOTES:

Top 5 Ways To Deal with Fear?
1) Find something that your more afraid of and throw your energy there. For instance, compare your current fear to a level of regretting that you never moved forward.

2) Run thru your fear. Focus on what will happen if you move forward? Ask yourself what’s the worst that can happen.

3) Deal with your real limitations. Think about your doubts and question is they are 100% true.

4) Don’t give fear more credit than your other emotions. Fear is an emotion but not the end point of your emotional being. Don’t give fear all your energy.

5) Don’t put pressure on yourself. Realize that your not the first person to have the idea that your stressing over. Relax and take comfort in the fact that your everyone is trying to live their dreams.

PURSUING YOUR DREAM JOB
Question: I recently got my chance to start my dream job and I’m worried about taking that leap. It would mean that I have to let go of what I’m doing now and make less money. How can I stop worrying about the security of what I have now to go for my dreams? Sara- Ohio

GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN
Find out about going against the norm. What’s good for one life isn’t the best for all. Set your own life goals and don’t fear pursuing your passions.
FEAR OF TRUSTING
I was in an abusive relationship recently and now I’m afraid that I won’t see the signs again. How can I learn to trust myself again? Kimberly – Destin, FL

DENIAL
You can’t make someone change their mind so education is key to helping others with denial. Does it seem that everyone and their dog is working against you? Are you just a poor innocent victim in what seems to be one huge conspiracy against you? How does your ego effect your level of denial?

AM I GAY?
Im 20 years old. My worrying all began when my buddy asked if I was gay and I got defensive saying F*** You! Ever since then I have been worried that I have been gay all along and never realized it. I will sit at home and think about how I might be gay. I delve very deep into my reasoning and it causes extreme fear and panic. For instance my biggest reasoning is that I can’t seem to talk to girls. Now before all this worrying I never thought I was gay and just thought I was scared of girls, but now I fear that I can’t talk to girls cause I’ve been gay this whole time. Another thing that happens is if I see a guy now I get a weird feeling in my stomach and that occurs with just a look no matter what they look like and then I start worrying that I got attracted to them. Basically I don’t care if I’m gay or straight I just can’t stand this worrying about GAY.

Today’s Show Notes:

#1- Research Popular Content From Your Competitors
by Ian clear fromRazor Social: If a type of content is popular with the audience of your competitors and colleagues, it stands to reason that a similar post will be popular with your audience. This isn’t about copying content, it’s about crafting content around a similar topic, but with a different slant.

For example, Jeff Bullas wrote a blog post on 7 Marketing Trends You Shouldn’t Ignore, which was very popular. He used his post as inspiration to write a post titled 7 Social Media Tool Trends You Shouldn’t Ignore … this article was also very popular.

There are a few tools that help with his research:
Social Crawlytics does an analysis of your competitor’s content and shows you how often each post is shared across each of the social networks.

SEMRush shows you what keywords bring your competitor the most traffic so you can target the same keywords in your own content.

My favorite thing to do is drive inspiration from facebook pages and instagram a that I follow and admire. If your a singer, then follow the top 5 in your genre for ideas of how you could better reach your audience with your content. Looks at their photos, statements, tags, links, time of day and how often they post.
This is a great way to get inspired when your feeling thirsty for new content ideas. You’ll get a to Of great ideas. And always follow the best and the ones who apply to what your doing.

#2- Increase Views on YouTube Using These Thumbnail Creation Tips
Gideon Shalwick : It’s no secret that getting more views on YouTube can greatly help grow your business online. But with the vast majority of videos on YouTube getting mediocre results, everyone wants to know how to get more legitimate views! One of the easiest ways to get more views is to create compelling, attention-grabbing thumbnails for your videos.

The Secret to Creating Powerful YouTube Thumbnails is at your finger tips. You need to get three things right for creating powerful YouTube thumbnails.

Check Your Graphics: Start with a good headshot or closeup of your face to create a personal touch with your thumbnail, then add a colorful background—like a starburst—to grab viewers’ attention. Use attention-grabbing backgrounds.

Text: Use compelling text inside your thumbnail design to tell your viewers instantly what your video is about and why they should watch it—maybe use your video title. Make sure your text is easy to read, even at the smallest display size of your thumbnail on YouTube, and that the image is on the left and text is on the right.

X-Factor: Think about how you can inject emotion into your thumbnails. For example, the expression on the face of the person you’re using can be that of shock, amazement, disgust, enjoyment… choose an emotion that will create intrigue and get people to click on the image.
Great tips from Gideon.

#3: Limit Your Social Media Platforms
John Lee Dumas from Entrepreneuronfire.com
His social media marketing tip for businesses today is to find three or four social media platforms where you can build the strongest presence that will be most beneficial for your business. With countless social media platforms available today, it’s impossible to grow a strong presence on every one. Having a mediocre presence on six or seven social media platforms is far inferior to a strong presence on three or four when it comes to your social media marketing goals. Do your research and build a strong presence on three or four platforms. His point is, Why spend time on social media platforms where your audience might be hanging out when you could be spending that time on social media platforms where you know your audience will be hanging out?

To find out if your target audience spends most of their time on one platform over another, join online groups within those platforms that focus on your industry or niche. If you find that the members are really active and engage on the topics you’re focused on in your business, there’s a good chance that a presence on that platform will benefit your business.

I personally like to use different platforms for different things. For instance my wordpress blogs are for my articles and news, then my facebook allows me to build more meaningful relationships with my followers. I use twitter to drive traffic and discover new things. Research information, etc, linkedin for business connections, Instagram @JacquelineJax to share and create images and Pinterest to share products with links for purchasing, everything is cross promoted into each other from time to time and tumblr and twitter gets it all. That’s a quick picture of my social media world for @jacquelinejax and my clothing company @blondibeachwear

A.V.A Live Radio Behind The Music with Artist Helena Micy

Behind The Music Jacqueline Jax Helena MicyListen in: www.blogtalkradio.com/avaliveradio/2013/12/08/ava-live-radio-behind-the-music-artist-helena-micy

Listen in live as host Jacqueline Jax speaks with UK artist Helena Micy.
Getting up close and personal with UK music artist Helena Micy..
What gets her hot, A leap of faith from Greece to the UK, and What it’s like to be flawed. Listen in now…

Music: Don’t Change, Leave Me Alone, and Listen.

GETTING TO KNOW HELENA MICY
1) What are three things that would surprise us to know about you?
Good question this one!
1) I’ve always been singing in English even when I didn’t speak any since I was born and raised in Greece.
2) I quit my two universities to study music and
3) I left my country after 25 years of living there, to come to the UK and chase my dreams. It’s Never too late and so far it’s going really good! 🙂
2) Name three words that best describe you and why?
1. Stubborn because I always do what I want without listening to what others advise me to do (it’s not a good thing by the way),
2. Very spontaneous. Most of the times I say and do what I feel which is not a good thing to have again and 3. Passionate! If I do something I really love, I give my heart, soul and life to it without thinking that the outcome might be a negative one.
As you can see, I’m full of flaws. hehe
3) Who was the single most influential person in your music journey so far?
Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil.

4) Any backstage, pre-show rituals? How do you get “in the zone”?
H: I don’t really have any specific rituals but I’m giving a general pep talk to myself most of the times. Before a show I am always nervous because I want it to be perfect but nothing is perfect in life so I am saying to myself that I did the best I could to be prepared for this moment, that I am here to enjoy the show, give my all on stage and do my best, and most importantly to entertain the crowd in order for everybody to encounter a wonderful experience. 🙂 I guess now that I have my full band, we’ll maybe start doing pre show rituals all together. hehe

5) Have you collaborated with any other artists? Who have been your favorites to work with. OR who is on your wishlist? If you could collaborate with anyone in the industry right now, who would that be and why?
H: I collaborated with many wonderful artists from Greece so far such as Stereo Mike (MTV awarded rapper – producer) , Maxi Nil (VOA) and Johnny Zero (Elysion) but the collaboration with Stereo Mike was a big lesson for me because he has a very good knowledge on how things work in the music business so I learnt a lot from him. Our collaboration is an on going process for 3 years now. He did a feature on my EP 3 years ago, then I recorded vocals for his album, currently he is producing my debut album and recently became the bass player in my newly formed band too which is amazing.
I would love to collaborate with so many artists I respect but if I had to pick one, it would be Lacuna Coil because they are the first who inspired me in order to follow the music path and chase my dreams.

6) Indie or mainstream? As in would you like to remain an indie artist or is the goal to eventually break out into the mainstream music biz? why or why not?
H: hmmm this is a really good question but I really don’t know which way I will go in the future. I believe you can have a great career both ways but every situation has its pros and cons. I mean.. I am unsigned and indie for now and it’s great because I have 100% control over my career moves. Everyday I am learning something new about the music business and it’s really helpful for an artist to acquire the business know-how but the bad thing is I do not have the time I need to focus on writing music. On the other hand when you’re signed to a label, you don’t have the absolute freedom to do what you want with your music career but I am not against contracts with labels at all. If a good deal comes my way, I will grab the opportunity for sure. 🙂

7) If  you do have plans to release your music mainstream, why do you think its so hard for indie artists to break into the mainstream market?
H: Even when you’re signed to a label it’s still hard to break into the mainstream market as things are very competitive and you have to have the right team around you as well, plus you need a bit of luck too. As an Indie artist, most probably you do everything yourself or with the help of few people who most of the times will be friends or die hard fans. It’s very hard for an emerging artist to be creative and to have a business mind too and I think this is why most indie artists won’t do a mainstream breakthrough. Let’s face it. Music becomes a business when you do it professionally and with the help of the right businessmen/women around you, you can have great fame.
8) What is the single biggest compliment or piece of advice you have received from a fellow artist?
H: “Always work for the song. Let it take you where it wants to go.” – Stereo Mike on how to compose music.

9) If ever you decide to hang up the microphone/instruments what is the single most important thing you want people to remember about your artistry? what legacy do you want to leave?
H: I really want to inspire people with my story actually. I’m from a small town in Greece called Elassona where there was no music school around. English is not my native language, yet I write lyrics and sing in English. Greece doesn’t have an R’N’B/Soul music legacy at all so having said all that I would like to be remembered as an artist who defied all odds and did the best she could to achieve her dreams. I want to inspire people to achieve their dreams because I really believe you can achieve anything, if you believe in your own power and work hard enough.

Tower over your gear with a tabletop holder that puts your iPad right where you need it. It elevates your iPad or iPad mini, making room for keyboards and other equipment below, and provides a more comfortable and ergonomic workspace when using your iPad at a desk. Originally developed for musicians to place their iPad above music keyboards, mixers, or other studio hardware, iKlip Stand also offers a wide range of applications for office, home and school. Designed for ideal weight balance, and constructed from rugged thermoplastic material, iKlip Stand provides a secure and flexible perch for the iPad. Two independent articulation points allow you to adjust both height and viewing angle, in either portrait or landscape mode, with a simple turn of the hand. The iKlip Stand naturally promotes good posture while composing, playing or working, by allowing you to dial in the perfect alignment and positioning for your task. This helps eliminate fatigue and strain, making you more productive for longer periods of time. Good posture = more production = fame and fortune. It’s that simple. Use your iPad with SampleTank for iPad and iRig MIDI to create the perfect mobile music creation workstation. For an even more sturdy stand, the iKlip Stand is available with a convenient “desk clamp” system for securing the stand to your desktop, providing a more stable, permanent solution. Whether reading, studying, checking email, surfing the web or composing your next big hit, iKlip Stand for iPad will help make the task easier and more enjoyable.
