His debut album “The Art of Love” will be out later this year with 11 year old executive producer, Dj Wizzy. Working on personal and collaborative albums over the past year, this creative team plans to focus on spreading positivity, self empowerment and fun to all of their fans.

Although Golf is a big part of this artists life, he made a decision to sacrifice the game to focus on an education and his music. A.V.A Live Radio Interview with Eddie Heller from Toxic Box

Toxic_boxJacqueline JaxJAX: How did you get your start in music?
Eddie: To be honest, I’ve been involved with music as long as I can remember. We had a baby grand piano in our home growing up and my parents have pictures of me as an infant sitting on my dad’s lap playing. My dad is an accomplished piano player and the 1st recollection I have of playing is around 4 or 5 years old. I played clarinet in elementary school and in 7th grade drums became my main instrument. By high school and college I was playing guitar and bass as well. I was a terrible candidate for music lessons – I had ADHD and had trouble concentrating. Luckily, playing by ear came easy to me. I’m not a virtuoso on any instrument (nobody is paying money to watch me perform on a specific instrument – lol) ……. my strengths are creativity/songwriting, a metronome sense of timing, and hopefully a well rounded appreciation of everything that goes into a song.

Marketing Tip of the Day: Internet Radio Tour

Radio tour

Jacqueline_jax_Video_liveI was just speaking with one of our music community members out in Canada and we were planning a strategy to help him break into the U.S Music market using internet radio like A.V.A Live Radio. Although you may not be aware there are thousands of internet radio shows bursting at the seems with online listeners seeking everything from new indie music in specific genres, to how to be a song writer, to becoming a better Mom. The topics are vastly diversified and new content is being created and consumed every hour. Many of the stations/ podcasts have thousands, or even millions of listeners and the content they create stays available online for ever mapping out it’s own piece of internet real estate.

As an artist, you want to take advantage of that open avenue that can deliver your music right into the ears of listeners within your sub-niche. Not only that, but most of the shows have web sites, like we do here at A.V.A Live Radio that will host your photo’s and buy music links for the listeners to easily find you. I talk alot about how to do this, what to look for when selecting stations and how to approach them in the A.V.A Musicians Workbook coming out this fall. Be sure to get on the mailing list so you won’t miss the launch of this amazing workbook that walks you through the step by step daily routines of developing your music career and building a strong, supportive and engaged fan base. Signup now: http://eepurl.com/vKMbX

Who is ready to plan an internet radio tour?
You should only spend time on promotional things once you have the following things in order:
1) Your music is perfect with quality recordings and at least one album released and ready to sell.
2) You have a smashing web site with your own .com for people to visit

3) You have set up at least one social media account in your band name (ie. twitter, facebook, reverbnation)
4) You have a mailing list established with a service like (wordpress or mail chimp) and the signup is front and center on your web site and all social media pages.
5) You have carefully thought out what you would like to say and how you can quickly and easily deliver your message when you are interviewed. This should include who you are as an artists, your latest news, upcoming tour, video or music release and your web site/ social media pages.

I hope I got you thinking more about internet radio and why it is an important avenue for you to consider, cultivate and add to your PR schedule. – Jacqueline Jax (Host of www.AvALiveRadio.com)

Artists links:

Up Close and Personal with Ed Concepcion

Jacqueline:: What are three things that would surprise us to know about you?
Ed::
  1.  I originally moved to South Florida to be an airplane mechanic but quit school to play music.
  2. I used to be a worship leader for a program in the Salvation Army and turned worship into metal.
  3. I didn’t start singing until I moved to Florida at 25 years old.
Jacqueline:: How do you feel about the music business today?
Ed:: I feel it is in much need of passion. The music industry has become dulled down and bubble gum. It needs the passionate artists that wrote epic songs that live on forever! Who will write the songs that will be charting 20 years later?
Jacqueline:: Name three words that best describe you and why?
Ed:: High-energy,crazy,passionate. High energy because I am at 100 miles an hour as soon as I wake until I sleep. People half my age can’t keep up with me. Crazy because I will say almost anything at anytime to crack someone up and put a smile on their face. Passionate because of the feeling I put into EVERYTHING I do. If it’s not worth putting my whole heart into it, I won’t attempt it at all.
Jacqueline:: Who was the single most influential person in your music journey so far?
Ed:: My mother for starting it.
Jacqueline:: What has been the most successful thing you have done to publicize your music thus far?
Ed:: Hands down, it would have to be Reverbnation along with facebook and youtube. All 3 cross promote very well.

Personal note from Artist:

It all started for me when I was 14 and I asked my dad for a saxophone. Now there is a sexy instrument. My dad was too cheap so he bought me a clarinet. Nothing sexy about that! Me? On a woodwind? Never!  So I did what any manipulative 14 year old boy with divorced parents would do. I asked my mom for a guitar and this started a life-long passion for writing and playing music. I was always into the heavier side of everything listening to bands like Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, and OverKill. My admiration for bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd came much later in life. I grew up on the Jersey shore playing in various projects as a rhythm guitarist. I moved to South Florida in 1993 and met guitarist Eric Wright. That’s when things started really taking off and I realized my potential as a lead singer and song writer. Eric had a lot of music written and needed lyrics and vocal melodies. They flowed out of me like wine and Shattered Reality was formed. The first time we hit the stage was 1 year later at a battle of the bands at the Plus Five in Fort Lauderdale. We chose to go all original. We slaughtered the competition! When we got off stage, strangers asked us to sign their tickets because they thought we were going to be famous quickly. Sadly that was not the case. We dominated the local metal scene and broke up 2 years later. I played in various projects over the next 3 years writing music the whole time but never sharing it with the bands I was in because there was nothing serious. Then I met guitarist Steve Mirable who had amazing abilities but could not write. With my song writing and his shredding we formed Warfare but when auditioning bass players, we could not find a committed one. So, after much frustration, I became a bass player. Then we found Roman Vohsalik, who was exactly the drummer we were looking for, and we were now Warfare the power trio, sounding like a cross between Iron Maiden, Metalica, Rush, and Kiss. Once again, we hit the stage a year later with all originals, and blew the crowd away with our originality, stage presence, and tightness. I believe that music should be done right. A true depiction of the artist/songwriter’s heart conveyed through the instruments of others. That’s why I took a year from the formation to the unveiling of each serious project, especially when I’m writing the music. Warfare recorded a 9 song LP in 2001 and broke up at the end of 2002. I continued to play the local South Florida scene in various bands and projects until 2009 when I decided to go completely solo due to lack of dedication of others and the heartbreak associated with the breakup of a band. I concentrated my solo career in Broward County playing places like, Kahunas, American Rock, Cheers,  Crabby Jack’s, and numerous gigs in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami/Dade area. I moved from Deerfield Beach to Delray Beach in 2012 were I continue to write and play cutting edge, original music.

Regards, Ed Concepcion

Featured Artist: Dance Pop Artist Irene B

Jacqueline-Jax-ShowInterview:
Jacqueline Jax: What are three things that would surprise us to know about you?
Irene B.: Well, first thing for your audience that listens to my music and don’t know about me. I’m from Barcelona, Spain and I sing R&B in English. Everybody seems to be surprised for both my choice of genre and language. I grew up listening to R&B music in English, so it’s like natural to me. You can barely notice my accent singing (but you can talking). Second, I’m a pretty introverted person, even being a singer, I hate phones… weird uh? Third: I am not only a singer, but I love the music business, I spend most of my days reading about the state of the industry today. So much I have a Youtube show called “Diary Of An Indie Artist” where I show artists the “business” part of the music business.

Jacqueline: How do you feel about the music business today?
Irene B: Even though it’s a hard time for everybody (specially with the economic crisis we’re all going through) I think it’s a great opportunity for new artists, due to the growing of new ways to promote music like social networking, online radio stations, podcasts, etc. The problem is how to monetize music and make a living out of being an artist, but I have faith in the future of the industry.

Jacqueline: Name three words that best describe you and why?
Irene B: Stubborn: Although I’m open to new ideas, I do have some things very clear and I don’t mind telling people in their faces I don’t like something, lol!
Hard worker: I work 24/7 on my music, both literally (songwritting, singing, etc) and as far as my business.
Dreamer: Although I always like to be realistic, I still have a very fantasy-driven part of me that allows me to take flight every now and then!

Jacqueline: Who was the single most influential person in your music journey so far?
Irene B: If we’re talking about singers I’ve never met, I would say Mariah Carey inspired me the most, I probably wouldn’t be singing if it wasn’t for her. As far as people around me, my husband and producer Frankie Biggz has shown me pretty much everything I know about the music business, he’s so talented and giving, I thank God everyday I have him in my life!

Shamiah music artist
Shamiah is a singer/writer/performer that is going to fit in among the music industries elite artist with no problem. She is fun, looks good, and is actually talented (no pun intended). If compared, she is a mixture of Lisa Left Eye, Pink, and Rihanna. She can have you rocking in the club with records like her single “Nothing Like This”and “You Can’t Tell Me Nothing” to having you laid back with a sweet serenade such as “Love” another one of her hit songs. She is the total package, eye and ear candy wrapped in one!
Shamiah music artist

Shamiah Trenae- ” I currently attend Middle Tennessee State University. I was born in Beloit, Wisconsin and later moved to Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 6. Music and dance have always been my inspiration. I started off singing and dancing at the age of 8 in the church choir. As I got older, music started to mean more to me. As my whole family started singing, it began to grow on me. I decided that I wanted to become an entertainer while in college. Music is sort of a get-away for me. To me, music is a form of expression.”

Interview:
Jacqueline Jax: Tell me 3 interesting facts about yourself.
Shamiah Trenae: I love sports! My favorite teams are the LA Lakers and the Greenbay Packers!
I am originally from Beloit, WI. And I’ve played college rugby for 2 years!

Jacqueline: How do you feel about the music business today?
Shamiah: I feel it is very wide ranged and a hard profession to break into. It could either make or break an artist so you better be prepared. I feel like if you get where you want, it would be well worth the experience in the end.

Jacqueline: What 3 words best define your music and why?
Shamiah: Positive, fun and inspiring.
I am trying to bring something back to music by keeping it positive and fun. Music that does what it was made for, makes you want to sing along and dance with the beat. I also can slow it down with an inspiring ballad that hopefully can help some people get through the very same problems I have been through.

michael egletonQuestion :: Michael Egleton : www.MichaelEgleton.com :: OMG! lol Ms. Jax! Thank you so, so much for your guidance and support. I was speaking to someone today about how you encouraged me and challenged me to do better in the presentation of myself and my music. When I receive sound advice I take it to heart and act on it with the best of my abilities and strength. I have great friends who are also lending their guidance to my career. I thank you so much for your expertise and not “sugar coating” anything. I have to be a certain way for the industry and you told me to step it up if I was serious about what I wanted to achieve in music and my career. I’ll be signing up for your webinar. My question is: Is there such a thing as a “Fast Track” when it comes to entertainment?

Answer: Jacqueline Jax : Radio Host http://www.AvALiveRadio.com ::
Dear Michael, I looked at your web site and I have to say that I am so proud and excited that I have had some influence on your design and movement forward. I love your new web site and cant wait to see your pages continue to evolve. Terrific job!!! As far as the “Fast Track” . If your looking for a faster way to break into the “BIG TIME”, there is a thing we like to call “Paying Dues” that is absolutely necessary to any top professional. The reason for this is that it takes time to perfect your skills in any profession but all the wonderful things you discover along the way just make you that much smarter and savvy. You will need that education in order to make good career choices as you advance forward. Hard work on your part, will certainly pay off for you but learn to work smart. Always carry your business cards and a press card or CDs with you and constantly tell people about your music. Ask them to come support your new projects, your new web site, come to see you play… You have lots of things to self promote. Do lots of marketing online using my daily tips and always answer comments and emails. I can say that money moves a career forward alot faster but not always in a good way that will sustain a lasting career. Financial resources will just allow you to higher the right team of people to work for you in brand building and promotion so you don’t have to do it all by your self. But remember this… the more people you have in your life, the more complicated it will become so always learn tasks yourself first and then higher out so you know what your looking for in an employee and also so you can help them to work smart.

Moe BellagloriaQuestion :: Moe BellaGloria : moebigbandsinger.wix.com/sinatraman66 :: I am looking for the next big step for may career, an agent, a manager, so my question is, where would you suggest I search through? Thank you.

Answer: Jacqueline Jax : Radio Host www.AvALiveRadio.com ::
Hi Moe. First let me thank you for subscribing to our show and becoming a loyal listener. Great question. The internet is a wealth of resources at your figure tips but many people like yourself, just haven’t had the time to look around. So one of the things A.V.A Live Radio likes to do is share resources and work as a guide through the different platforms available. Once you have your web site designed, music in order, CD launched, video’s of your live performances and photographs perfected, only then should you consider taking the next step- building your team. An agent/ manager can help you take your career to the next level but only if you have a solid foundation for them to use. You can’t rely on anyone to do it for you unless you are ready to pay them big money for their work. Two important things I would do to start looking for that perfect manager is:: Subscribe to www.AvALiveRadio.com and listen to the shows to get more in touch with our music community. Featured artists talk about their managers all the time giving you a great recommendation. Plus the web page also send emails to the subscribers announcing management who are looking for talent and other great music career opportunities. Second, I would set up a Linkedin profile and join all the music industry groups you can find. Post a discussion on what your looking for sharing your links, contact information and pages and then start reading and participating in the other discussions. Once you have found a few solid choices, send your press package and a personal letter to the manager telling them why you would like them to manage you. And most importantly note THEIR strengths that you have observed while deciding to ask them for their help.

Tune in : www.blogtalkradio.com/avaliveradio/2012/10/10/ava-live-radio-features-zara-phillips-and-dmc

Join host Jacqueline Jax with featured musical guests Singer Songwriter Zara Phillips and American Hip Hop master Darryl “DMC” McDaniels with their song “I’m Legit”.

From her auspicious debut, Zara has led a charmed musical life. Her engaging and confident style combines strong lyrical themes with powerful melodies to create music that is both thought provoking and entertaining. Zara Phillips began her professional career working as a backing vocalist for Bob Geldof. Live-Aid creator Geldof recruited Phillips for his first solo projects after he departed the chart-topping UK band The Boomtown Rats. She worked on Geldof’s album “Deep in the Heart of Nowhere,” toured extensively, was in music videos and television appearances on some of the U.K.’s most highly rated shows. Zara’s musical career quickly blossomed from that point. She continued her work on tour, in television and videos with U.K. artists such as Matt Bianco, Nick Kamen, David Essex, and the solo project from Dire Straits’ John Illsley. Additionally, she toured in support of Bananarama, with a ‘Perfect Day’. Born and raised in London, Zara loved to sing and dance from a young age and enjoyed spending hours in her room writing all the lyrics to musicals and performing each part. She auditioned for school shows but was told her voice was too deep and never got the leads. A boyfriend persuaded her to join a band and soon started playing gigs around London. She also started tinkering with the guitar, asking any musician she knew (including Geldof and Illsley) to teach her a chord. Zara moved to Los Angeles where she continued writing new songs and performing solo. In 2005 Zara finished work on a new CD entitled “When the Rain Stops” produced by Ted Perlman, winner of 2006 Grammy Award for Burt Bacharach’s CD “At This Time”. Zara’s work with Ted features 14 original tracks written by her (one track is a co-write with Ted). Zara’s deeply personal song “Secrets” was used on the Emmy Award winning Daytime Soap, NBC’s “PASSIONS.” Two other songs, “My Time” and “Naked Loving You” both are heard on the soundtrack for upcoming films from Organic Digital Productions. Zara has finished directing and producing an adoption documentary entitled “ROOTS: UNKNOWN” This educational and informative film will focus on the emotional influence adoption has on the adoptee and their families. Interviews and sound bites with adult adoptees, their families and children are mixed with artistic images of their art and creative expression. In addition, Zara is also an author. Her book, ‘Mother Me’ is about Zara’s personal journey to motherhood from an adoptee’s point of view. ‘Mother Me’ was published by BAAF (British Association for Adoption and Fostering) in the UK and was released on March 3rd 2008. This is an intensely personal and compelling memoir in which Zara describes her feelings as an adopted person and explores her relationships with her adoptive and birthmothers, and invites the reader to join her in her own journey to becoming a Mother. “It seems that birthing my children was also a birth for my whole self.” “Mother me’ has now been picked up by Gemma media and an updated version was released on February 14th 2011 in the U.S.A Zara and Ted Perlman got back together to record a new album that features ‘I’m Legit’ a song Zara wrote with another adopted person Darryl “DMC” Mcdaniels.

Darryl “DMC” Mcdaniels is an American Hip Hop legend within his own time as one part of the 1981 group Run D.M.C from Queens, New York. The group was widely acknowledges as one of the most influential acts in the history of hip hop culture. The first group in the genre to have a gold album in 1984 and be nominated for a Grammy Award. They were the first to earn a platinum record (King of Rock 1985), the first to earn a multi-platinum certification (Raising Hell, 1986) as well as the first in their genre to have videos on MTV and be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, ranked #48 in 2004 in their list of the greatest musical artists of all time.
