Highlights: Jax Report Spring Style

DIY FAShion Projects1) Designer DYI: everyone loves a great DO it yourself project however be thoughtful with your project planning but there’s a great DIY like recreating that thousand dollar Pucci bag with some pretty beads and a hot glue gun and there’s walking around with a macaroni mess held together. Y paper clips. Not all DYIs are good. Keep them simple and look at some videos online before deciding on a project that’s for you.

Logo fashion trend spring2) Wearing Logos: if your going to become a walking advertisement for your favorite label, try to keep it to one piece of clothing at a time. There was a time when Jacqueline Kennedy never wore logo tees and thought they were to be saved for youthful rebellious teenagers but if you between the ages of 12-25 a logo tee is certainly appropriate to demonstrate your personal views. But other than for workout wear, still to classic looks that aren’t to wordy. Try to focus on fabric texture, colors and fit instead.

SPring fashion luxury trends3) Focus on Luxury: there are some beautiful pieces this season that you won’t regret spending your luxury dollars on this season. A couple of my favorites are the leather bucket bag, a great pair of suede mules, chunky gold bracelet or necklace.
These styles won’t be trends that pass quickly and they are classic enough to pair them in unlimited ways as you move through seasons. Bag: Mansur Gavriel, $495 each; net-a-porter.

Low_heels spring fashion shoe trends4) Speaking of Shoes: the low heeled pump is back and woman are enjoying this as a work shoe. When it comes to shoes, you can typically be true to yourself and your lifestyle. I personally have never had an issue buying any color, heel shape or style and not been able to make it work down the Lin, however I have a rather large inventory to choose from. So with that being said, if your looking to invest in shoes this season, I like the nude styles, a chunky heel on a colorful or cork shoes is a fun comfortable style, the ankle straps are great and a goddess sandal for the next few months is going to be fun to wear.

Board shorts Spring Fashion Trends5) Board Shorts are those print surf shorts that end at the knee. It looks like a Hawaiian walking short to me. I personally wouldn’t invest in them because the trend is like a beach fad. I think that there’s nothing like all white shorts for the beach and a fresh stripe shirt or halter top in a solid color. You can even get fun with a Hawaiian print but I don’t see the board shorts being a fashion statement past the beach.

Spring tribal Fashion Trends6) Tribal Trend: this trend is a little to heavy for me. The elements can be very over powering for smaller frames and just have so much going on. They can look very costume. Instead try to get your tribal fix with a bag or accessories like earrings or necklace. Even a touch on a tee shirt something that won’t be a huge investment because it’s going to look outdated and silly once it’s over. The farthest I would go in a purchase is perhaps a tunic to wear with jeans for around $100. Tunics can get away with carrying trends further into other seasons because they have a casual wear with jeans feel that doesn’t typically force a statement to far.

spring-2014-picks-17) Piling on Jewels: right now the magazines are pilling on ear cuffs, arm bands, multi layers of bracelets, statement necklaces, statement earrings. Oh my gosh.. Hold on ..this is just a mess. More is not more. I would look and feel ridiculous wearing so much amour. A lady is a lady… Be reasonable and stick to one major statement piece at a time. Two max if they aren’t sitting close to each other and they don’t make you look like a Halloween costume version of yourself. I’m all for stunning jewelry but just don’t try to wear it all at once.

XL_1200x800_08-lgn8) Guilded with rose gold Metallics: metallics can be great for evening but again less is more. Don’t go head to toe metallic. Choose one item. Shoes, a bag, a cuff, or a shirt then mix it with matte fabrics in classic shapes to keep it from being over powering. I like black slacks or jeans, a metallic sheer shirt to lighten up the heaviness and add one bracelet of the color. Then shoes and bag should be neutral matching the black slacks. Your look can be so messy and over done otherwise.

XL_1200x800_09-lgn9) High Shine: high shiny fabrics are flying down the runways with a rain slick look in super bright shades. These trends won’t last long so don’t throw the luxury money at them, instead find pieces under $50 so you won’t kick yourself when your bored. We all like shiny things but clothing that shines wears out is appeal quickly and one the trend is gone people will look at you like your odd walking around in a bright yellow patent leather rain coat unless your a rock star. In which case, rock on you need the attention anyway. It could end up being your trademark.

Hawaiian-GR-Tankdress_look_10) Prints: prints are personal. Some people will be attracted to florals, others to geometrics. Colors are always appealing to the wearer and the viewers because they are so uplifting. But choosing the right sundresses can be tricky. I love fit and flare shapes for all my clients because they hide figure flaws and accent the best parts then work to smooth out the bumps.

1.  Top 10 Tips For Bloggers
Have you stopped to think how times have changed? Do you remember the days when you had to pay for any kind of online or news paper advertising? I remember reading an article in the New York Times in 2010 discussing the Internet’s phenomenon and the rise of amateur online bloggers in the media. In fact, Magazines, Designer, PR firms and traditional media are giving noted respect to top bloggers with invites to all the hottest events, free goodies and even hefty paychecks for their undivided attention. Even radio stations had to become Internet savvy with world wide online streams of their programming. And now hear I am, sitting at my desk overlooking the city with a cup of tea sharing my latest research with you in an era of “new media.” The Internet has changed the way we communicate and share information with each other. This change has created a new generation of highly intelligent and demanding people who want to be entertained. So if you want to draw attention to your products, music, services or web site, you have to evolve into what I like to call a high-bred web site. This kind of web site is interactive and rich in social media formatted content. Most importantly, it’s a web site that is updated with fresh fun content often. Weather your sharing photos, daily journals, music, jokes or reporting the latest fashions a blog is the method of choice to own your page and build a following. With that said, its important for you to understand the blogging basics. Here are my top 10 Blogging tips (AvALiveRadio.com)

Hot Topic Tuesday: Lady Gaga’s Social Media Secrets of Success

lady gaga Social Media successListen in now: www.blogtalkradio.com/avaliveradio/2013/08/07/hot-topic-lady-gagas-social-media-secrets-of-success

marketing-tip-of-the-day-2Love her or hate her, Lady G is the queen of personal branding. Today I’m sharing the top 10 things that contributes to Lady Gaga’s social media success. With over 39 millions twitter followers, she is leading the pack and you need to know what she’s doing right. Marketing Tip of the Day: Internet Radio Tour

Radio tour

Jacqueline_jax_Video_liveI was just speaking with one of our music community members out in Canada and we were planning a strategy to help him break into the U.S Music market using internet radio like A.V.A Live Radio. Although you may not be aware there are thousands of internet radio shows bursting at the seems with online listeners seeking everything from new indie music in specific genres, to how to be a song writer, to becoming a better Mom. The topics are vastly diversified and new content is being created and consumed every hour. Many of the stations/ podcasts have thousands, or even millions of listeners and the content they create stays available online for ever mapping out it’s own piece of internet real estate.

As an artist, you want to take advantage of that open avenue that can deliver your music right into the ears of listeners within your sub-niche. Not only that, but most of the shows have web sites, like we do here at A.V.A Live Radio that will host your photo’s and buy music links for the listeners to easily find you. I talk alot about how to do this, what to look for when selecting stations and how to approach them in the A.V.A Musicians Workbook coming out this fall. Be sure to get on the mailing list so you won’t miss the launch of this amazing workbook that walks you through the step by step daily routines of developing your music career and building a strong, supportive and engaged fan base. Signup now: http://eepurl.com/vKMbX

Who is ready to plan an internet radio tour?
You should only spend time on promotional things once you have the following things in order:
1) Your music is perfect with quality recordings and at least one album released and ready to sell.
2) You have a smashing web site with your own .com for people to visit

3) You have set up at least one social media account in your band name (ie. twitter, facebook, reverbnation)
4) You have a mailing list established with a service like (wordpress or mail chimp) and the signup is front and center on your web site and all social media pages.
5) You have carefully thought out what you would like to say and how you can quickly and easily deliver your message when you are interviewed. This should include who you are as an artists, your latest news, upcoming tour, video or music release and your web site/ social media pages.

I hope I got you thinking more about internet radio and why it is an important avenue for you to consider, cultivate and add to your PR schedule. – Jacqueline Jax (Host of www.AvALiveRadio.com)

Top 10 Tips To Getting More Traffic To Your Web Site

by JacquelineJax
If your on the Internet, then I’m sure you already know that it’s no easy task to getting people to visit your web site. I’m here to tell you that there is an art to attracting traffic to your web site. Now, assuming that you already have a terrific Hybrid Website to share, here are some quick tips for attracting more visitors and keeping them interested once you get them there. (if you don’t have a hybrid website, then I hope your subscribed to our blog at http://www.avaliveradio.wordpress.com because we’ll be sending more information on that to our subscribers.

1) First lets Consider Your Image – Have you ever heard the saying, a pictures worth a thousand words? Your pictures tell your story and that story is who you are and who you aspire to be. What makes people like Steven Tyler, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Bono, Mick Jagger and Lady Gaga trend setters? They know how to put themselves out there in ways that we can relate to. I leave you with this thought. Be yourself but take a step back before releasing images- they may not paint an accurate picture of who you are and what your selling.

2) SEO Optimization – Search engines send robot “spiders” to index the content of your webpage, so be sure to take the necessary steps to prepare your webpages for optimal indexing. Get started by using keyword rich titles on every page of your web site. Next be sure to add informative and sincere text carefully describing what you are selling or presenting on your pages. (if you don’t know enough about SEO optimization, then never fear I have you covered stay tune for our future guides on building your web site right here on A.V.A Live Radio)

3) Subscribe Now buttons- make it your priority to build your company list. Be sure to place a subscribe now box on every page of your web site. You can not start a marketing campaign without potential clients to market to and it’s very important to encourage every visitor to join your list.

4) Start a twitter and facebook account in your web name and share pages from your web site with details about that page. Tell friends in your social network and email list about what’s happening on your site daily, weekly and monthly. Keeping your site current and active is key to creating a place people will want to come back to.

5) Blogging: I suggest you start a blog about something that really interests you and that also has to do with your product. You really have to think out side the box before you decide which direction to blog in but it’s a terrific way to get a dialog started with your supporters. Plus a blog format is fun and easy to update from your phone, iPad or computer. Posts can be stories, events, updates or you can take a picture and post it up with a comment about where you are. But make it fun. The more fun you have with your social media tools, the more likely people will enjoy what your doing.

6) Be genuine. Avoid the hard sell tactics of the major brands. People don’t like to be treated like dummies. Posting a comment about a product, service or music will leave a far better impression than another boring add so keep it real and your friends will keep watching.

7) Drawings & Giveaways! Who doesn’t love free stuff? If your generous with your clients, you will not only get their attention, they will definitely be talking about you. Believe me, there is no better advertising than word of mouth and this is a terrific way to build your mailing list of people who already like your products. Don’t be stingy guys, you have to spend money to make money. So be generous with your products and music. Remember, there are alot of competitive products out there. Your goal is to believe in your products and get it into the hand of your target audience.

8) Business cards- an old but necessary step. Business cards are still today’s most important thing to have if you want to drive traffic to your web site. Business cards are not only really inexpensive, they are a great way to deliver information about your product or service. You’ll need to design a high quality, exciting card with your name, product slogan, logo, web site, and contact information on it. Remember, your card is your first impression so make it a lasting one. Money is no excuse either, online sites like vista print offer super low first order prices with terrific full color card options. So go get it done.

9) Video – Video is an awesome way to advertise your products and let people get to know you as a business owner or musician. Set up a great looking YouTube channel and start creating high quality videos for your music or products. Most of our computer have built in HD cameras but if you don’t you can easily pick one up for around $70 that will do a great job. Be sure to use editing software to add that special polish to your frames and never rush to post. I have a 24 hour rule. If the video still Impresses me 24 hours after I have finished it, then it’s ok to post. If you want to learn more about cameras and editing options, there are tons of tutorials on YouTube. In fact, I’ll be sure to post some links up on the www.YouTube.com/Avaliveradio channel to help you.

10) Relax it takes time
Many of you have been asking how long it takes to build up a following for your music or business. Truthfully, once you have a smashing online presence, you have to be religious about your efforts daily. Many of the people you admire have most likely been at it for at least a year and have not only given their brand alot of thought but have had their image finely tuned by a professional. Stick with it, and don’t get discouraged by a slow start. It’s all about tweeking your plan to maximize your results as you go along.

I hope my tips on “Getting more hits on your web site” were helpful. If you have questions, please be sure to leave them below.

Marketing Tip of The Day: Pick Up Your Marketing Pace

20130529-090458.jpg

marketing-tip-of-the-day-2Have you ever noticed that once Young the Giant picked up the pace of their now popular song, Cough Syrup, their record sales and popularity began to sore?

The same thing can be said for your marketing strategy. This year I have studied and spoken to many online brands in music, beauty and fashion bloggers, youtube channels, web sites, modeling, pretty much every category out there and one thing has rang true.

This has made a consistent difference in everyone’s marketing strategy. So the next time your feeling a little lazy, discouraged, or unmotivated think about this post. I can assure you that people are watching and listening when you post your messages, write your blog, launch a video or share your photos. But in this crazy online world of marketing you can just as easily disappear when you stop the stream.

If your a musician, your probably saying: Sure, but can I sell more than 5 cds per year if I out more time into it? Yes you can. I’ve been working with artists selling thousands of copies online every month. But let me be bold and up front with you. To succeed on the Internet, you must prepare yourself for the long haul and prepare to work hard attracting fans until the buzz hits and you take off. Even once it does, you will still have to be there consistently for your fans if you want to keep their interest and support. Success on the Internet won’t come overnight. You must have a quality web site and quality music to sell with something to say. If you take your work seriously, so will everyone else who follows you. Look at Taylor Swift, she doesn’t miss the meet and greets, she takes pictures with her fans, and she takes time to address them personally. No more excuses, step it up!

Help is on the way!!!!! A daily step by step guide is coming to help you with your daily music branding and marketing plan.

Marketing Tip of the Day: Dealing With Negative Reviews

Marketing Tip of the day AvA Live RadioReviews are important. We make shopping decisions and measure credibility by feedback that we see online. You cannot please everyone all the time and even the best of the best receive some negative reviews. But did you realize that one negative review on your sales page can damage your brand and stop sales significantly. In this case, silence is your worse enemy. If a customer writes a negative review and there is no response from you, it can be interpreted that you don’t care about your customers satisfaction or concerns. Instead, neutralize a bad online review by contacting the customer privately to work through the issue. Meanwhile, proactively ask happy customers to write positive reviews for you.

Note: If someone has left you negative articles online via web page the best way to counter those reviews is to publish good content on the web to get stronger search results. Search engines will move most recent articles to the front of the searches so by posting newer articles you will move the bad reviews further out of the way.

Join host Jacqueline Jax as she answers some of your most asked questions about personal branding and music marketing.

Question:
Michael : I’ve listened to the webnar 3 times and each time it has come back to my blogging abilities. Ms Jax to be honest I don’t know what I’m doing there. I have someone handling my website and keeping that where it’s supposed to be but blogging….. lol I don’t know whats interesting, what to write that will draw people in, and the rest that comes with that. I’ve been blogging every night through Reverbnation.com all of my site are synced there to reach FB, my web site and others. So when I blog it hits them all. www.reverbnation.com/michaelegleton

Jacqueline: Great question Michael.. I actually wrote about this once on the marketing tip of the day… We talk alot about how to market great content but rarely do I find anyone instructing on how to create excellent content that may be more attractive to your readers, friends, fans, etc. so here are some ideas for you.

1) Make it interactive. Include a quick poll relating to your industry topic. Allow your readers to participate and be heard. Don’t forget to include a share button to pass it along to a friend.

2) Share your views on topics. Industry related or other things. Express an opinion about your topic of interest, similar to what bloggers do. If your company has a blog, this is a great place to link to your latest post. If you have a music page, lead your topic into a reason to listen to one of your songs or watch your video. If you sell products, include a link where you can buy a product that supports your opinion…. listen to the show for more….

3) Have fun. Don’t make your news all about business 24-7. Share a joke, a funny picture or a funny story. If you a musician, share some pictures from your last recording session or performance and tell the story like a diary entry. If your a blogger, switch things up and be creative by writing about something whimsical that strikes your interest today. If your an artists, how about a cool how to or DYI Sunday project. You don’t have to share every day. Start with once a week and add in days as you get inspired.

4) Use a note pad during the week to jot down reminders of what you should talk about or get done during your update. That will help you save time, focus and stay motivated when it’s time to update.

Question
Carrie -Ohio:
Hi Miss Jax. I love your show and have been trying to do my best to be more active in my pages. People have been trying to access my page from their phones and don’t get anything. Is there something I should be doing to make my web site able to be seen on mobile phones?

Jacqueline: Carrie you have a flash web site and you may not realize it when building with flash web tools but it doesn’t get seen by search engines well nor can you view it on phones so here are a few things to remember.

1) No Flash- Flash is cool in normal web browsers but it won’t display on many mobile devices. Try a wordpress page because its really easy to build in minutes, there is a music artists templets or hundreds of others and you can embed YouTube links and use a few brilliant images to make your statement.

2) Simplify Navigation- Links are not always easy to click on a smart phone, so keep your navigation simple.

3) Easy Read- try to keep the important information upfront and easy to find. Things like contact information, mission statements, product links or subscriber opt ins should be front and center.

Marketing Tip Of The Day: Use HTML with Text Backup

20130301-001258.jpg

Use HTML with Text Backup
While text-only newsletters were common a few years ago, times have changed, and most people prefer to receive their newsletters in HTML. But it’s still a good idea to have a text version as back up for the handful of recipients that cannot read email in HTML, or prefer text.  Look for a program that will automatically create a text version with one click.

Hot Topic Tuesday Marketing Webinar: Avoid a Death Valley Website

Listen to the show: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/avaliveradio/2013/02/05/marketing-tip-of-the-week-no-death-valley-websites

Marketing Tip of the Day: Web Friendly Websites
No matter what the goal of your business’ website, personal blog or music site is, good design is essential to attracting viewers and keeping them interested. When designing your site, be sure to use clear navigation, avoid bright neon colors that disappear on white making it hard to read, and keep information clear, distinctive and short. Every word counts so you’ll want your text filled with rich key words that make sense without over stating your point. Since indexing web crawlers don’t recognize images, use only important images and make sure they are tagged in their saved titles. If you help your customers get what they want without overwhelming them, you will succeed in creative a web site where buyers and readers will be back for more. Want to see a great web site rich in key words, tagged photos and content? Check out the A.V.A Live Radio this month charting a hefty 41,000+ total page views on the site.

Marketing Tip of the Day : The Power of Permissions
Don’t underestimate the value of permissions marketing. In todays competitive online playing field, if you don’t get permission to be one of the select companies to contact a customer, your marketing strategy will go now where. As people get more computer savvy, spam filters and online viewer tolerance for the uninvited is reaching an all time high so if you want to get in touch with your people, be sure to get permission and spend time making every email count because we are only as interesting as our last email.

Marketing Tip of the Day: Measure Your Social Media Success
If you are using social media to promote your project, blogs, business or music you’ll want to make sure that your efforts are reaching a level of success. In order to measure your level of social media success on any of your posts, you’ll want to pay attention to your audience and their activity. That involves keeping track of how many followers you have and how often they share your content, enter a contest, or post a comment or review; it’s a clear sign of what resonates with your audience and more importantly what doesn’t. You should also compare popular times when most people are online and judge the responses accordingly. Over all, an increase in these numbers leads to better awareness about what your promoting.

Marketing Tip of the Day: No Death Valley Websites
Are you keeping your web site content up to date? Not staying up-to-date with news, blogs, etc is Death Valley for a web site. When you’re active on Facebook and Twitter, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly updating stuff and doing more than enough. But if someone goes to your site and sees your last entry was posted over a year ago, they’re going to think you’ve got nothing going on and have abandoned your web page. If your actively working on your craft, there are always things to talk about. Think about adding a blog style profile page that links or feed to your front page and shares directly to your social media platforms. This way, you can post your updates on your web site first and share to social media from there like a spider web. Remember your social media pages do not belong to you and can be taken down at any time so start building your web site subscriber list now.
