Marketing Tip of The Day: Ideas for Building Your Email List
Now that you have a fabulous web site and a few well written newsletters to share, it’s time to start building your list. Finding new prospective clients is easier than you think. Here are some places to find great new people who will share your love for your business. With a little consistency and determination you can build a terrific list of supportive people who will engage with your content.
1. Social Media:
Facebook and twitter are great places to meet new friends and engage new clients. Look for people with shared interests and ask if they would like to join your list by sending them to your web sites welcome page that asks them to opt in. You can also signup for a free account on mailchimp.com and send links for your list signup form directly to your Facebook and twitter.
2. LinkedIn Groups:
Start a group and participate in multiple groups that share your interests. You’ll find thousands of people willing to share their projects and learn about yours.
3. On The Streets:
You may not realize how many people you speak to every single day. In work, at the grocery store, party’s, events, seminars, galleries, mixers, happy hour, school. Get cards or ask for a contact email from everyone you have a conversation with. Over the month, you’ll have more than you think. Plus people who you’ve met and spoken with aren’t likely to delete your emails.
Make an effort to collect email information at your music performances, mixers and conferences.
4. Giveaway:
Everyone loves a free giveaway. Offer a cool prize in a free giveaway contest for signing up. Blast it out to Facebook, twitter, everywhere you can so people can easily find it.

Reviews are important. We make shopping decisions and measure credibility by feedback that we see online. You cannot please everyone all the time and even the best of the best receive some negative reviews. But did you realize that one negative review on your sales page can damage your brand and stop sales significantly. In this case, silence is your worse enemy. If a customer writes a negative review and there is no response from you, it can be interpreted that you don’t care about your customers satisfaction or concerns. Instead, neutralize a bad online review by contacting the customer privately to work through the issue. Meanwhile, proactively ask happy customers to write positive reviews for you.
Note: If someone has left you negative articles online via web page the best way to counter those reviews is to publish good content on the web to get stronger search results. Search engines will move most recent articles to the front of the searches so by posting newer articles you will move the bad reviews further out of the way.

Building a strong brand that clearly communicates your voice to the world should be your top priority whether your writing a blog, selling products or producing your own music. Two key elements in doing this successfully are determining your niche and knowing what you stand for.
Your niche is a more specific description of your brand. For instance, if your a musician, then music is your brand type but your niche may be country song writer, punk alternative rock, coffee house acoustic, romantic piano jazz or strong empowered woman. LOL
If your a fashion blogger, your brand type is fashion but your niche may be ladies luxury resort wear, DIY home made clothing projects, food and fashion lifestyle, or dressing for your figure type.
The list of more specific values that identify your niche is endless because it can be any combination of descriptive words that more accurately describes your brand.
Once you have identified your niche you’ll want to work at developing your voice or “what you stand for”. Standing for something isn’t about getting up on your soap box and yelling until the world listens, it’s more about being confident in what you have to say. Your voice is your signature, your style, and that special unique something that stands out from everyone else. It is conveyed through your images, your web page design, and your words. Working all that out may take some time, but it’s so worth it.
By determining these values that carve out your niche, you will be able to maintain your focus as you work towards building your brand and your readers/ listeners/ fans will not only be able to relate to you in a more meaningful way, they will remember you.

Twitter can be a real mystery but the power it has as a traffic driver and messenger of valuable content is limitless. Here are some quick tips to help you with your tweets.
1) Less is more. Leave room for retweets. Don’t take up all 140 characters so retweets can be personalized by your followers.
2) Go for quality not quantity by limiting the number of promotional tweets so you don’t flood your feed with advertising. Adds should be no more than 30% of your tweets.
3) Don’t buy it back! Be careful not to over-sell yourself. Instead compose tweets that matter with helpful topics leading to your content. Tweet fun images with short descriptions and tweet-able sayings or thoughts.

I have some really important news for those of you who are working hard to take your music marketing to the next level. Check it out….
“A recent Nielsen study found that 40 percent of U.S. consumers—those classified as fans—are responsible for 75 percent of music spending. These fans, who spend between $20 billion and $26 billion on music each year, could spend an additional $450 million to $2.6 billion annually if they had the opportunity to snag behind-the-scenes access to the artists along with exclusive content. The study results, presented at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, showed that the high level of spending from a relatively narrow group of music consumers is dominating the share of overall music spend. These big spenders have indicated that, at large, they’d be willing to pay even more for exclusive extras, like in-studio updates, real-time emails, pre-orders, limited editions, autographed copies, vinyl records and lyric sheets handwritten by the artist.” (Study from www.nielsen.com)
Hummm. So how does this translate? Basically you should be stepping up your product offerings to your fans. Engagement is the goal and experimentation is key. If you want to generate more sales, you need to get creative with your marketing and start offering exclusive items for your most active fans to connect with you on a more personal level. Once your music is finely tuned and pumping out on all cylinders then start offering special exclusive extras to your mailing list and keep track of which offers pan out the best. This will vary depending on your genre and fan base so mix it up until you discover what they like and go forward with those types of products.

Marketing Tip of The Day: Ideas For Selling More Music Online
In today’s music world, it’s just not enough to create great music. You have to get moving on your promotion just like any business owner. Here are some ways to generate more music sales long term with a little work and a ton of creativity.
1) Create an iTunes playlist : iTunes allows you to publish playlists that you create. The playlists can be rated from 1-5 stars by other customers, and top rated playlists appear on the page for every album that has a song in the playlist. If your songs are included in a top ranking playlist, you will definitely see more sales.
2) Video Bloggers : youtube bloggers are always seeking royalty free music or permission to play songs in their videos. The key is to find video bloggers who have millions of fans matching your target audience. Offer a page with one free download (provided they include a link to purchase) and a list of songs for sale that you are willing to let them play on their videos. They will not only love to have great music for their videos, you’ll certainly be getting a ton of awesome exposure for the life of the video.
3) Movies and Commercials: Have you ever seen a movie or commercial that isn’t filled with music? You wouldn’t believe how many movies and commercials get made every year and its easier than you think to introduce yourself to a new production company or get listed with an agent. DIY: Subscribe to our station (www.AvALiveRadio.com) and get your music played on New Music Monday and join LinkedIn and start connecting with groups in the movie biz. You may be pleasantly surprised at what you may find.
4) Compilation Projects: I have spoken with tons of producers who are making a killing with compilation CDs. They get music from different artists and promote the CD online by genre such as Dance Party or Country Mix. The CDs not only sell thousands of copies, all the artists on them gain fans individually and sell additional tracks.
I hope these tips are helpful and get you thinking about creative ways to up your exposure and music sales. If you think of a great idea, leave it in the comment section below. I would love to hear it.

Feeling like a click addict? Did you think your photos were just for fun? Well your mobile photos may be worth dollars and how nice would it be to get paid for your photos?
Instagram launches a way for you to make money on your photo’s.
If your an instagram junky, your photos may be worth $. Instacanvas just launched a new web site that allows you to connect your account to sell your photos as works of art. After printing, boxing, and shipping, they pass on 20% of the original sale price to the artist. After taking care of any and all operational measures to bring your digital mobile art to life in tangible printed form, they ensure that the artist gets their share. “We also print on museum quality products.” Says a spokes person from Instacanvas. “Instacanvas has also grown into an active and growing worldwide community of photographers and artists. We provide the Instagram community with a platform to promote and sell mobile photos to wide-eyed art lovers all around the globe! We do this so that the artist only has to worry about snapping great photos.”
So click away everyone and don’t forget to tag your photo’s so they automatically land in the Instacanvas search engines. You may just become a paid photographer yet. LoL.
P.S. You can share your profiles with your fans.
Would you ever think that Instagram was a traffic driver for drawing attention to your blog posts, newsletters and web pages? Instagram allows you to build followers, share pictures, promote photographs with hash tags, and of course conversation through the comment feature. What you may not realize is that its also a powerful tool for networking such as building blog followers, networking, driving traffic, meeting like-minded bloggers, etc. While there is no real way to link directly to your posts in Instagram, it’s always great to let your followers there know you have new content. You can easily do this with a photo.
Here’s the plan: 1) Take a screen shot or photo of what your working on. 2) Post it on instagram along with a question or comment describing the picture and be sure to include your web address. 3) Since your link won’t be clickable, keep it short and you may even want to watermark your photo with your .com 4) Hash tag some keywords in your description so your photo will show up in Instagram searches.
Don’t forget to share your Instagram posts to your twitter and Facebook media pages as well for additional traffic and to let your friends know where you can be found.

Finding your voice online can be tricky. You want to be yourself but sometimes finding topics to discuss or deciding how to write about your topics takes a little more thought. During my last few years writing 4 blogs and expressing myself on social media, I have learned that there are some key things that helped me stay focused on being myself while still succeeding in getting my message across to my readers. Here’s what is working for me.
5 Key Things to Know:
1) Keep a Notebook: writing down notes and thoughts when I have them has helped me so much in both discovering my voice and organizing what I want to say. By having notes to refer to as I write my newsletters, blog or messages its makes better use of my time and keeps me focused on the message leaving me free to be myself and let my personality show.
2) Stay True To Yourself: take some time to discover your passions and what motivates you. You’ll never go wrong if you express yourself with honesty. Find interesting and creative ways to express yourself with a style that will appeal to the readers you want to attract. If your a visual person, then use alot of pictures to illustrate your points. If your gifted with words then share in forms that mean something to you like poems, short stories, diary entries, song lyrics, commentary, etc.
3) Share Your Opinion: the best way to get reactions from your readers is to share your opinions on things. Don’t be afraid to express how you feel about topics or something that’s happening in your life. By opening up you’ll find people who agree and disagree but either way any response is a great indicator of how well your writing. When you have managed to so your unique self, people always respond.
4) Be Brave: Typically the best and most fascinating blogs or articles are the ones that express with a passion. Don’t be afraid to try different things or show who you are by expressing your unique self. If you constantly hold back, you won’t enjoy yourself and neither will your readers.
5) Have Fun: Writing is a form of expression and creativity that is supposed to be for your enjoyment. By getting in touch with what makes it fun for you, you’ll create a space that not only you will enjoy creating but your readers will enjoy as well and want to visit often.
Tweet able : “Be fascinating and you’ll be remembered!”

Whether you’re an Internet Marketer or a businesswoman promoting her business on the Internet, you want your brand to stand out from the crowd. The ultimate marketing goal is to have your target market think of you, and your company, when they are ready to buy.
Here are 10 ways you can make sure your customers and target market think of you and your brand first when they are on the Internet looking to purchase what you are offering.
1. Provide great customer service.
Today’s customers are looking for guarantees, prompt turn around time and exceptional service after the sale. When making an Internet purchase, customer service can often become a major factor in the final buying decision.
2. Develop a heart-felt story that speaks to why you are in business.
Your Internet clients and customers, as with all clients and customers, want to know, like and trust you. I believe your target market needs to accept you as the person behind the brand before they will buy what you are offering.
3. Work to keep your name in front of your market.
I believe in the saying “out of sight and out of mind.” Here’s a fact of Internet business life: If you are not consistently reminding your target market that you are actively doing business, they will forget about you and go elsewhere.
4. Provide value – exceed their expectations.
Providing on-going value to your target market is vital to better brand recognition and becoming the well-respected “go-to” person in your field. Are you offering webinars, teleconferences or classes to your market?
5. Regularly send tips and how to’s in either a newsletter or email.
I’ll say it again, “Out of sight, out of mind.” If you aren’t regularly staying in touch with your customers and/or target market, you’re going to lose business.
6.Write a blog.
One way to help your target market know, like and trust you is to write a blog that informs, entertains and educates. The key to a successful blog is consistency. You develop a loyal following by regularly providing blog posts that offer quality information and ongoing value to your target market.
7. Develop, produce and host a Blog Talk Radio show.
You can increase your rating as an “expert” and reach a broader market by developing a free Internet radio show on Blog Talk Radio. An added benefit to hosting your own show is that once the show is recorded, you can download it to your blog or website.
8. Host a Facebook Group.
Another free marketing resource for your current Internet customers is inviting them to participate in a Facebook Group. In your Facebook Group, participants can share tips, ask questions and network with one another. The benefit to you is that you can stay in touch with your target market in “real-time.”
9. Write a book.
If you regularly write blog posts or newsletter articles, you have the makings of a book. It is easy and inexpensive to write an Amazon.com Kindle book or self-publish using a service such as CreateSpace.
10. Use the same photo/logo in all your marketing materials.
This tip seems obvious but is often overlooked. Be consistent in your branding. Use the same photo and logo on your blog, e-signature, newsletter banner and all other forms of Internet communication. It’s one additional way you’ll be instantly recognizable to your target market.

I love SEO tips because the way that search engines define your search engine rankings has alot to do with staying current with your knowledge of how to optimize your pages.
Here are some things you must know if you want to stay on top of today’s SEO strategy.
1) Create new and well written content regularly : Not only will your subscribers enjoy your great new content but the search engines love fresh and informative content.
2) Define your content with interesting titles: Be sure to create a great title that not only describes your page but uses a few solid keywords to help people find you.
3) Use Carefully Chosen Keywords: Be sure to refine your list with well chosen words that define your content. Try to be specific instead of using the same braid terms everyone is gunning for.

Post and email titles really do determine response rates. Since its so important to your success, I thought you may enjoy these ideas for writing snappy post titles.
1) Ask a question:
Asking questions is a great way to pique someone’s curiosity. It also opens up your post for discussion and engagement is the key to a successful blog, website or post.
2) Solve a problem:
Say you have the answer everyone is looking for… where to find the best deals, how to find the perfect…., if your posts solves a problem, reflect that in the post title so you put your most important foot forward.
3) Stir a controversy:
Drama, drama, drama. Controversy will either be great for your web site or blow up in your face, but either way, if you have a controversial point of view it will get people talking and hopefully sharing.
4) Includet a number:
Numbers work and so do percentages. Would you be more interested in reading a post that says ,”My Top 10 Twitter Tips for 100% Successful Tweets” or “My Twitter Tips for Successful Tweets”. Close but really no contest….right? LoL…
